We put TNT on the map! Out of the gate I loved it, A place we can express our concerns and issues and then come up with a game plan to change the community with notice, that is a powerfull thing for a teen who feels that his voice can change how others think from negitive to positive. That was one of the greatest empowerments you can give to the youth, I took full advantage of what we were trying to accomplish, WE WON THE BEST GROUP OF THE YEAR IN THE STATE OF MN, AT THE GOVENOR'S 7TH ANNUAL RECONITION DAY, l felt so special recieving that award, not just because we had bragging rights, but what the true meaning of what WE as a community, What WE as friends, and what WE as a FAMLY accomplished! AMAZING MAN I TELL YA,We had to be the most diverese group at the ceremony and being the only teens in the building, you can best believe you me we jumped, for joy after hearing TNT students concerned about racsim ending diversity!!!!!! Motivation to make us work even harder and we played harder as well, After great years of community service, every year as a one of our many rewards we went to wisconsin dells !!!!! dances at neighborhood house, We even had great teen nights every friday at the TNT bat cave, those were the times of our lives, we were invited to countless workshps all across the country, California, Chicago, and Flordia not just as students but as the super stars of the show. My entire time spent at TNT, 3 years as a spokesperson, 1st and only 2 year President in our history, member of the S.C.A.R.E.D group, was the highlite of my life! We were hanging out with The Mayor Norm Coleman working on city wide issues feeling very important, might I mention he also was a great mentor for me, TNT had the key to the city and were all just youth that made a huge impact on all of us, meeting almost on a weekly basis, Man that made me feel like a king, I never wanted this expirence to end, What I thought was gonna be my last speach for TNT at the end of my term felt like there was a death in the family foreal, We were at cherokee park doing a bbq giving out awards for the year and when it was time to say goodbye, WE all as a family cried like some babies really moving moment in my life, I didnt want to leave but it was that time for me to go, I knew one thing, TNT was in great hands. My Vice President Wendy Everett who was next in line as my successor, became President in 1996 and believe me she was the best person for the job. She had it all, smart, ambitious, knew TNT inside and out, was the channel 5 future hero award winner, and she has the greatest smile of all time! She rocked the house when she took office, just like I knew she would, she did a phenomenal job. Now days a lot has changed, There is a lot of TNT alimini still live on St,Paul's West Side as home owners with family's that are moving on living great lives, so we thought, right now there is this huge problem plaguing the West Side with the youth, which brings me to the front line, I'm here for the kids and we are gonna show the world its easy to take care of these problems, you, me, and everyone else just has to care.
Long ago I had a dream once too, As a matter of fact it started in the 8th grade when crime was at a all time high and we really needed something to do, In 1990 TNT was formed, I had someone other than my mother telling me ''You are special, You can make a big diffrence in your neighborhood'' I didnt really know she was setting me up to be the best me that I could be, I was forsure a believer, We were brushing elbows with the powers that be on a huge scale, Gina definitly had my attension, You mean to tell me we can run our own group and we were in charge of what went on? Man I'm in! Not only to be heard but to conqour the world and everything in it, TNT instilled that from day 1 in the door, I have to say to have some really on your team, Was and still is the ultimate`, Some might say I am over confident and will say that I belong in a different world all together, I'd say watch and learn what The 2 time President, 3 time Spokespeson will do when its his time to shine.
